Bitcoin Association Activities

BSV: Bitcoin for Business – Inaugural Program

Bitcoin Association’s very first “BSV: Bitcoin for Business” program was held in Tokyo, Japan last week. The event series is aimed at educating business executives about Bitcoin SV and why it is the blockchain choice for enterprise applications.

Jerry Chan, the Bitcoin Association Regional Manager for Japan and South Korea, hosted the event, which was a success with over 60 representatives from Japanese enterprises, exchanges, and media in attendance.  Dr. Craig S. Wright talked about the history of Bitcoin’s creation, why Bitcoin was intended to bring more honesty and lawfulness, how audit trails can eliminate corruption, and a general message for Japan.

We plan to host BSV: Bitcoin for Business programs around the world as part of Bitcoin Association’s mission to support Bitcoin SV’s growth.

Cambridge University Metanet Society

As earlier announced, Bitcoin Association is the title sponsors for the Cambridge University Metanet Society for the 2019-2020 academic year. The sponsorship helps support study and development of Bitcoin SV at the prestigious university. The Metanet Society will use the financial support to conduct over 20 events that educate students and promote the capabilities of the BSV protocol, blockchain, and cryptocurrency.

The Cambridge University Metanet Society is founded by Robin Kohze, a Cambridge genetics PhD student, who also recently took 2nd place at Bitcoin’s Association’s second BSV Hackathon, which was completed at the CoinGeek Seoul conference in South Korea on October 1.

The first event under the sponsorship was held on the evening of October 17, with featured speakers Dr. Craig S. Wright and our very own Jimmy Nguyen, President of Bitcoin Association. Select attendees then joined the Queen’s College formal dinner, and then enjoyed drinks at a BSV meetup on the Cambridge campus – with Dr. Wright autographing copies of the Bitcoin white paper for lucky recipients. It was a successful kick-off to the Cambridge University Metanet Society.

Applications and Business

Preev is a a new easy to use platform that allows users to view the Bitcoin SV (and BTC) exchange rate, and records the exchange rate (against different fiat currencies and other assets) on the BSV blockchain. Preev constantly gathers Bitcoin exchange data from multiple markets, so users have access to the most up-to-date price. A weighted average price of these markets is shown by default, based on 24-hour trading volume. Because Preev is constantly recording exchange rate data to the BSV blockchain, it was quickly become one of the top 2 BSV transaction generators – even overtaking WeatherSV for the number 1 spot.

Preev’s simple layout allows its users to:
• See the Bitcoin exchange rate, the current value of one Bitcoin and convert any amount to or from preferred fiat currency.
• Keep an eye on the Bitcoin price, even while browsing in other tabs. Simply keep this site open and see the live Bitcoin price in the browser tab. (Note: Some mobile browsers don’t yet support this feature.)
• See how many bitcoins you can buy. Enter an amount on the right-hand input field, to see the equivalent amount in Bitcoin on the left.
• See the value of your Bitcoin holdings. Enter the number of bitcoins you have, and watch their value fluctuate over time.

All of this is powered by Planaria, Datapay, Money Button, BitIndex, and Bitcoin SV.

Quotes on The Blockchain

Quotes on Chain allows users to publish quotes straight to the BSV blockchain. Quotes can also be shared from the site via a generated link. Anyone with a MoneyButton account can easily add a quote that will remain on the blockchain forever.

Little Rocket POS

Little Rocket POS is a new fast and simple point-of-sale system for accepting Bitcoin SV payments that is currently in private beta testing.

Businesses will be able to accept BSV in no more than a few minutes anywhere in the world via an Internet browser. According to the company “Our goal is to create a Point-of-Sale solution that is delightful to use and easy to get started with. We are a for profit company and plan to monetize our products in the future. One of the ways we will monetize is by offering a completely private sign up at a cost. Very rarely are things “FREE”.  There is an illusion of free, but the reality is your data is the price. We believe that in the new paradigm consumers will pay for privacy”.

10 private beta users have been selected to test out the core functionality before going into a public beta.

Satoshi Shout-Out

Air Quality Index- (AQI) is a new tool to upload the Air Quality Index of 3000+ Chinese cities or areas onto the BSV blockchain every hour. It was developed by Aaron Zhou (@dailyzhou), a strong BSV supporter from China. The application will permanently store pollution data so that it can be accessed for study or just be transparent and accessible to future users. The data is taken from public services in China and encoded in a utf-8 format to be written to the blockchain. The AQI data has quickly become one of the biggest drivers of transaction volume on BSV.

Aaron Zhou receives this edition’s Satoshi Shout-Out for creating a valuable resource that can improve environmental study and for generating a strong amount of BSV transaction volume.
