This week we review more developments from the BSV community and enterprise. This includes the news you can now purchase BSV easily with credit cards or via bank transfer and use your BSV to purchase things from shares in a company to paying for your tuition at a prestigious Japanese university.

BuyBSV

You can now buy BSV quickly and easily using credit cards or via bank transfer on the BuyBSV.com platform.

The website is powered by Coinify, and allows users to create an account and buy €100 ($113) worth of BSV immediately without the need to provide personal identification. Customers can easily upgrade their account (by providing applicable KYC information) to buy up to €10,000 ($11,356) worth of BSV.

The three account levels are as follows:

  1. Level one:allows customers to create an account on BuyBSV.com simply without providing ID. Bank transfer limits are unavailable and customers have a €100 limit for their first order, and €300 for all subsequent orders if they’re paying via credit or debit card. The yearly limit is capped at €3,000.
  2. Level two: users need to upload an identity document such as passport, national ID or driver’s license. Credit and debit card limits are capped at €100 for the first order, and €800 for the next orders. Payments via bank transfer require a minimum order of €100 and are capped at €3,000. There are no annual limits for both options for level two account holders.
  3. Level three: the account must complete at least €10,000 buy or sell orders. Security verification for this account will take 14 days. Level three account holders have a €3,000 limit for daily orders that are paid with credit or debit cards, and €10,000 if they’re paying via bank transfer. No annual limits are set for both options.

The BuyBSV service is available for customers in Canada, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, and Ireland. Customers in Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Romania, and United Kingdom can buy BSV via the web service. More countries are will be added soon.

BuyBSV is a joint effort between Coinify and CoinGeek.  All CoinGeek revenues from this joint effort will go to the Bitcoin Association to help fund its work to grow the BSV ecosystem.

Ritsumeikan University – Japan

Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan is now accepting payments in BSV.  It is regarded as one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Japan. The institution was originally established as a private academy in 1869 before being granted a modern university charter in 1922. Fittingly, one of the first faculties at Ritsumeikan was the College of Economics. The college currently is split into two schools, Economics and International Economics. Over 32,000 students are currently studying at undergraduate level at the university.

This is the first Japanese entity on the OnChain BSV Maps application – a registry of global businesses that accept BSV.

Bitcoin Association- Training and Development Manager

We are pleased to announce that Bitcoin Association has engaged Brendan Lee as our new Training and Development Manager, with a goal to launch our global training and developer awareness program.   This is the next step in Bitcoin Association’s efforts to support training of more BSV developers worldwide.

Brendan is a career engineer with over 15 years’ experience across a variety of roles and industries. After discovering Bitcoin in 2017 he has been involved in a variety of initiatives including the invention and productisation of the Safewords distributed seed backup system, the Bitcoin Stress Test initiative which became the Satoshi Shotgun, and the Tokenized project which promises to bring new levels of efficiency to asset distribution and exchange.

Most recently, Brendan was also appointed the Head of Technology at Faia, a management consultancy firm that helps innovative businesses build communities, improve productivity, and integrate emerging technologies.  It is the first Asia-Pacific consultancy to offer BSV integration services.  The organisation is planning to expand into more technical direction and planning with Mr Lee’s appointment being a key element of the strategy. Brendan has also become a well-known creator of Bitcoin focused educational content and has produced a number of videos on the core concepts that underpin the network.

Brewdog – Equity for Punks using BSV

BrewDog – makers of amazing craft beer – have announced that they are extending their innovative Equity for Punks program until April 2020.  People can now become official BrewDog Equity Punks by using cryptocurrency – including Bitcoin SV – to buy shares in the company.  Equity for Punks has allowed customers and fans to become shareholders in BrewDog, with 114,000 people owning shares in the business.

To invest in BrewDog using Bitcoin SV, follow the link to the application page, submit your application and you’ll be given the option to pay for your shares via BSV. Anyone who invests in BrewDog using cryptocurrency also will receive six cans of Cryptonite West Coast IPA.

Satoshi Shout-Out               

Bitboss

BitBoss has built a secure gaming platform that uses blockchain, and employ an international team of gaming experts, blockchain innovators, and technologists building technology to power gaming. Alex Shore, founder and CEO of Bitboss announced in a medium article that they have created a Javascript Implementation of the Tokenized Protocol that is building off of their Keyring libraries.

As stated in the article “the newly contributed source code is initially being used by the BitBoss development teams to build out our browser based and mobile applications, however any Javascript developer creating applications for the BSV blockchain can now leverage the work that we have done to implement secure digital tokens”.

For not only building on BSV but also for advancing and improving the tool set available to developers- Bitboss is this week’s Satoshi shout-out.
